Geospatial Data Engineer

Full-time, remote, ideally based in Germany

Description

We’re seeking a skilled Geospatial Data Engineer to join our team in developing and implementing technical solutions for our clients’ spatial data challenges, as well as support our education team in developing training content. This full-time remote position combines technical expertise with consulting skills to help organisations understand and leverage geospatial technologies effectively. Our ideal candidate is someone who is already based in Germany and is authorised to work there.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement geospatial data pipelines and workflows for client projects
  • Develop technical solutions for processing, analysing, and visualising spatial data
  • Create and maintain documentation for technical processes and solutions
  • Collaborate with the education team to develop technical training materials
  • Provide technical consulting and support to clients on geospatial data integration
  • Evaluate and recommend geospatial technologies and tools for specific use cases
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop innovative solutions
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and technical standards
  • Mentor team members on technical aspects of geospatial data handling
 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Geography, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience working with geospatial data and technologies, including satellite imagery (including your studies or internships)
  • Strong programming skills in Python with experience in xarray, Dask, and Jupyter Notebooks 
  • Experience with handling and processing geospatial data in the cloud
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms or infrastructure, such as AWS, GCP, Azure or Google Earth Engine
  • Knowledge of common GIS software, such as QGIS
  • Ability to develop well-documented and efficient data processing workflows, from data access to result visualisation
  • Experience with data visualisation tools

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with web mapping technologies (Mapbox, Leaflet, OpenLayers)
  • Proficiency with spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL)
  • Familiarity with another programming language, e.g. R
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
  • Familiarity with cloud-native geospatial data formats, such as COG, Geoparquet or Zarr
  • Experience developing machine learning, deep learning and/or GeoAI workflows
  • Experience in technical consulting or solutions engineering

Communications Manager

Part-time, remote, global

Description

We’re seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Communications Manager to develop and execute our communications strategy, strengthen our brand presence, and effectively convey our value proposition to B2B audiences. This part-time remote position will play a crucial role in driving our growth and establishing our position as a thought leader in the geospatial education space. There is also the option to ramp up to a full-time position in the fall of 2025. You will become a key member of a growing team, having the opportunity to shape and define thriveGEO’s brand and online presence. 

While we have no location requirement for this position, candidates are required to possess work authorisation where they currently reside. Candidates would be expected to attend meetings during the work day in Central Europe. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with our business objectives and target audience needs
  • Create compelling content for multiple channels, including blog posts, case studies, white papers, newsletters, and social media
  • Manage our editorial calendar and content production pipeline
  • Craft marketing for new training programs and educational offerings
  • Lead internal communications initiatives to ensure consistent messaging across all team members
  • Measure and analyse communications performance metrics to optimise strategy and tactics
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate technical concepts into accessible content
  • Provide communication support for the creation of pitch decks, proposals, and marketing collateral
 

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, preferably in B2B technology, education, or SaaS
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English
  • Experience with content marketing and thought leadership development
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Understanding of digital marketing channels and content distribution strategies
  • University degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or relevant practical experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in geospatial technology, data analytics, or technical training industry
  • Understanding of B2B sales cycles and enterprise decision-making processes
  • Familiarity with marketing automation and CRM platforms
  • Experience with remote team collaboration tools and processes
  • Portfolio of B2B content writing samples
