Fourteen teams. Three regions. One shared ambition: turning generative AI and geospatial data into real-world impact.
We’re excited to officially announce the 14 winning teams of the GenAI for Geospatial Challenge – EMEA Edition.
Spanning Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, this cohort represents a powerful cross-section of innovators applying generative AI (GenAI) and Earth observation (EO) data to some of today’s most pressing challenges, ranging from climate resilience and environmental risk to cities, oceans, infrastructure, and community-scale decision-making.
If geospatial data is the map, and AI is the engine, these teams are building the navigation systems that help decision-makers act faster, smarter, and with greater confidence.
From ecosystems to economies, uncertainty is everywhere. These projects bridge geospatial intelligence with policy, markets, and risk-based decision-making. “thriveGEO will be working closely with the Challenge teams to turn their winning ideas into functional prototypes. Together with AWS, we will connect them with the resources and expertise they need to succeed. We can’t wait to see what the teams will achieve with the AWS credits, which they have been awarded.”

The GenAI for Geospatial Challenge was created to bridge the gap between experimentation and application. Across dozens of submissions, one thing stood out clearly: technical ability paired with practical intent.
The winning teams went beyond asking what’s possible with GenAI and geospatial data to proposing scalable solutions that can be deployed in the real world.
Together with Amazon Web Services (AWS), thriveGEO will support these teams through the Build and Show phases, helping them transform concepts into working prototypes with the infrastructure, cloud credits, and expert guidance they need.
While each project is unique, the submissions naturally clustered around four high-impact themes, reflecting where GenAI and geospatial intelligence are already reshaping decision-making.
As climate risks accelerate, static monitoring is no longer enough. These teams are using GenAI to detect patterns, model change, and generate early insights. Thus, turning Earth observation into actionable climate intelligence.

Aspia Space · GeoTerra Image · OceanOS · NatureAlpha
Cities are complex, living systems. These projects apply GenAI to help planners, governments, and operators understand urban dynamics, simulate scenarios, and design more resilient places.

VIDA.place · MetaPlanet · Urban Climate MENA · VISTA
Behind every successful AI application is a robust data infrastructure. These teams focus on the “invisible layer”, making geospatial data reliable, interoperable, and ready for AI at scale.

This announcement marks the beginning of a new journey.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be spotlighting each team, diving deeper into the challenges they’re tackling, their solutions and how GenAI and geospatial data come together in practice. Expect a series of thematic features across our blog, LinkedIn, and community channels as the teams progress through the Build and Show phases.
Let’s build the future of geospatial intelligence, together.
